Would you rather improvise or plan in advance?
Some people are planners. They like to have everything organized in advance, knowing where they’re going and when. The idea of spontaneity is a foreign and dangerous concept that makes them feel ill at ease. At work, their brains operate better when they’ve got a schedule to follow, with due dates and detailed structure from hour to hour. When it comes to their social life, planner prefer to know in advance when they’re going to meet up with a friend. And they like to have some understanding of where they’re going.
Others, however, love nothing more than the chance to improvise. They thrive when things are done off the cuff, and they love to try new things. Often, the idea of having a plan and executive it is stifling to people like this, because it limits their creativity and the opportunity to spur new plans in the moment. When it comes to making plans with friends, they would almost always rather play things by ear. Sticking to a schedule is boring, and can make them feel like they’re locked in some time prison.
Which kind of person are you?
