Red-cup season is finally here – the Starbucks lover’s favorite harbinger of the holidays. That means it’s time to string the Christmas lights, trim the tree, and head to the coffee chain for their highly anticipated seasonal concoctions.
As of November 1, holiday drinks have officially returned to the menu. And they’ll be serving your preferred seasonal drink in their signature red cup. Except the 2017 version is decidedly less red than previous seasons.
Starbucks Wants You To Get Creative With Your Red Cup
This year, the red-cup design features a Christmas tree, doves, stars, presents, holding hands, a heart, and snowflakes. And with a white background, there’s plenty of space for adding your own decorations to your seasonal Eggnog latte.
With a color-it-in yourself template, Starbucks is clearly encouraging the inner artist in all of us. Add your own doodle to the red cup. Or you can make it into a family DIY project when you’re ready to trade an hour of tech use for some good old-fashioned fun.
“Starbucks holiday cups and beverages will be making their debut in stores across the US on Nov. 1 at 5 a.m. local time. That means it’s time to celebrate, decorate — and give good, together,” the company said in a statement.
So either the coffee chain really wants to encourage people to get in touch with their creative side… Or they just got lazy, gave up halfway through, and made a unanimous decision to put the customer to work. Either way… at least the beloved peppermint mocha is back. Other holiday drinks to return to the Starbucks Menu? Expect returns of chestnut praline latte, gingerbread latte, caramel brulée latte, and eggnog latte.

But One Starbucks Isn’t Ready To Give Up on Halloween
Apparently, Starbucks’ desire to up their “scare” factor isn’t confined to Halloween and the limited edition Zombie Frappuccino. Their Laguna Hills, CA location just added a new chilling concoction: an “It Frappuccino.”
With a vanilla bean base and strawberry puree, the new Frappuccino is meant to mimic Pennywise the clown from the new It movie.
And even though the Frappuccino isn’t available elsewhere, you should be able to request that your local barista whip it up. That is, if you enjoy the nightmare-inspired mornings bolstered by a heavy sugar fix.
